About Trina

Hello friend, I am Trina Gray, a successful fitness entrepreneur, active mom, wife and passionate community leader.

I started my career more than 15 years ago, as a full-time journalist and part-time group fitness instructor. I built two, million-dollar fitness businesses from scratch – one bricks and mortar and one on-line. I own and operate Bay Athletic Club, a full-service, medically-based health club and Bay Urban Fitness, a large group personal training studio. As an independent Team Beachbody Coach, I am also the CEO of my own on-line fitness and nutritional company. I am an Elite Coach, Superstar Diamond, member of the Coach Advisory Board and winner of the CEO Award, chosen out of 190,000 coaches.

Over the course of my career, I’ve been an instructor, personal trainer, club owner and operator, national presenter, magazine writer, on-line fitness coach, leader of a national fitness team and have created my own fitness products, such as the Corporate Fit Challenge. I have been inside the fitness industry from all angles and have created a roadmap of success, with lots of failures, pitfalls and lessons along the way.

I have learned from the best. My first business mentor was Chief Justice Shirley S. Abrahamson of the Wisconsin Supreme Court who made me sharper, wiser and open to direct, honest feed back. The most impactful mentor in my fitness career has been Todd Durkin, known as one of the top personal trainers in the country. As a founding member of his elite-level mastermind group, I have soaked up more inspiration, discipline, wisdom and strength than I can put into words. He showed me how to run my own race, how to make a plan and execute it and how to enjoy life as a leader of myself and a leader of many others.

I pay my success forward by mentoring others who want to grow their career in fitness and live a fit life of purpose, focus and joy. I am committed to surrounding myself with people who are positive, driven, self-motivated and live with gratitude. If you look at my health club team, my coaching team and my inner circle of friends, this is exactly who you will meet… truly amazing, genuine people from coast to coast. I am happy in my own skin, but I truly enjoy the camaraderie of people I care about. I appreciate their perspective of life, their advice on business and relationships and their humor. Knowing whom I click with best, I choose to not work with people who are fake, self- centered or egotistical. This is not just a business theory, this is actually my way of life.

As a fitness leader, I have the occasion to travel the county and explore new communities and meet teams of fitness leaders. I love the adventure and the challenge. But I also enjoy returning home to Alpena, Michigan. Where? It’s a small town (that packs a mighty punch) in northeast Michigan, on the shores of Lake Huron. There is not a Starbucks or Target for hundreds of miles….but, we do have natural beauty and small-town charm and hard work ethic.

My husband and I moved to Alpena in 2002 for his job at the ThunderBay National Marine Sanctuary. We came from Madison, Wisconsin, where I was born, raised and attended college at the University of Wisconsin. I had no job, no connections, but I had ambition and true passion for helping others. I took a leap of faith in 2005 to open Bay Athletic Club, I was a young mom of a toddler and a baby with a big dream to change lives. I tell people that my business has the heart and soul of an underdog who loves to win. I live in a town of 15,000 that is in one of the poorest counties in the state, in one of the unhealthiest states in the nation. We have double digit unemployment, diabetes, smoking rates and more. But guess what? We’re changing that! My health club and my amazing team have changed thousands of lives.

About six years ago, I added another dimension to my business. It’s changed my life. It’s changed my children’s future. It’s changed my community. Becoming a Team Beachbody coach opened new doors, crated strategic partnerships and helped me build a life of financial freedom, greater choices and more impact. My award-winning team is Team Rockstar Fit.

Our leadership is comprised mainly of talented fitness professionals who want to grow their career, work smarter, and add nutritional and on-line coaching to their businesses. We have grown our team with fitness enthusiasts, stay at home moms, full-time employees in the workforce and others already in fitness. Today, I run a large team of thousands of coaches and have worked with the leaders to create cutting edge, on-the-job training programs, called Rock the Basics, to help people succeed in their new businesses. My coaching and systems has been featured on numerous national calls, our annual summit of 10,000 coaches, and live interviews with the CEO, Carl Daikeler.

With all the joy and success I have found as a fitness leader, my family brings me the most happiness. My husband Jeff and kids Jade and Colt are the sun and moon and stars to me. We love life on the lake, enjoying daily paddleboard rides and swimming in the summer. We ski, snowboard and just play in the snow in the winter. We enjoy spending time with both of our families as well. My parents, Doug and Judi, live in Madison, WI, where I was raised and went to college. They always believed their four kids could achieve any goal and encouraged us to work hard and dream big.

Jeff and the kids and I love to travel the world, as well as get involved in our own community. I’m active in my kids’ school, leading fitness classes and helping with marketing. I’m the co-chair of the United Way Campaign for 2014-2015, a former member of the DARE Board and Chamber of Commerce Board. It takes a whole village to provide a quality place for our kids to grow up.

In business, in life….I am two-feet in. Want to jump in and join me?
